There are plans underway to destroy ancient oak trees in Scarcroft to make way for a landfill site. Yes, a landfill.
This isn’t just about trees. It’s about the soul of a village, the natural world that has stood for centuries, and the health and wellbeing of the people and wildlife who call this place home.
💔 A Personal Plea
Scarcroft isn’t just somewhere on a map to me. It’s home. I grew up here, and my dad was born and raised here too. This landscape shaped our lives — it’s where we walked, played, and connected with nature. It’s where I spent countless hours exploring with Nala, creating childhood memories I’ll never forget.
To think that these ancient oaks — some of them hundreds of years old — could be cut down and replaced with a landfill is absolutely devastating.
🐾 What’s at Risk?
-
Irreplaceable oak trees — part of our natural heritage
-
Vital habitats for birds, bats, foxes, and insects
-
Clean air and peace for nearby families (including my mum, who lives less than a mile away and will be directly affected by the air quality and noise)
This is more than a planning decision. It’s a turning point — and we can still stop it.
